About Us

Philly Outdoor Science Education was founded in 2021 with the belief that every child is born with a natural curiosity about the world around them. We seek to nurture, grow, and develop that innate curiosity into a budding sense of a practical understanding of the interconnectedness of all parts of this world. Through our Philadelphia Outdoor Summer Nature Camp sessions, Philly Outdoor Science Education utilizes a hands-on approach to Science and Outdoors Skills to instill a sense of confidence, awareness, and appreciation in our students.

Founder and Lead Teacher

Adam Darer (he/him/his)

Adam grew up in Rockland County, NY where he credits his first-grade teacher for his love of Math and his grandmother for his love of Science, both passions that he continues to enjoy today. After graduating with a B.A. from Oberlin College in Chemistry (high honors) and Environmental Studies, he worked in biogeochemical research laboratories as a research technician at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and Stroud Water Research Center. He later discovered his passion for sharing his love of math, science, and the natural world with his students. He currently teaches Science and Hands On Skills at Main Line Classical Academy in Bryn Mawr, where he has taught since 2016.

When not teaching, he can be found playing piano and performing with his 1920's swing band Parlour Noir.
